Section 508 Compliance Specialist

Agiliko is seeking an experienced, versatile Section 508 Compliance Specialist to join a dynamic, progressive team that is helping our client establish a new 508 program using industry best practices and tools leveraging deep team expertise. As a member of the 508 Program Team, you will assist in a large-scale effort to bring all Agency Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) into compliance with Section 508 and WCAG 2.0. This position will also serve as Lead for Section 508 Accessibility testing and technical assistance for Web and Software Applications working with development teams to integrate 508 compliance throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) and other related functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform 508 testing of all Agency websites, web and desktop applications and provide results and remediation recommendations to program offices utilizing the Agency’s standard test processes
  • Participate in creating a baseline inventory of all Agency Information, Communications and Technology (ICT), including web and desktop applications
  • Assist in aggregating and preparing data and statistical results (metrics) for quarterly and annual reports
  • Assist in maintaining an online 508 accessibility resource website
  • Assist in researching and compiling data on the accessibility of various software and applications
  • Conduct in-person, webinar and one-on-one education and training in accessibility and the SDLC
  • Participate as the 508 Subject Matter Expert in web services and management gateway meetings

Qualifications:

  • Expert knowledge of assessing and remediation with Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Guidelines as they apply to web and desktop applications, as well as electronic documents
  • Expert knowledge of assessing and remediation with Section 508 / WCAG 2.0 Guidelines as they apply to web and desktop applications, as well as electronic documents
  • Experience working with development teams and the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • DHS Trusted Tester, Certified Accessibility Professional, or ability to obtain certification
  • Experience with JAWS screen reader and other commonly used assistive technology
  • Software development background a plus
  • Experience using CommonLook or other PDF accessibility testing and remediation software a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat Professional
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, able to work independently, self-motivated, pro-active team player
  • 10 years professional experience and a minimum of 5 years’ relevant 508 experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience working with intake and status tracking applications desirable
  • Prior experience working in a federal client environment preferred
